segregation in schools
School is a place that we all have been to at some point in time. Some of ride the school bus and others get their parents to drive them. Some of go to school with people who look like us and others of go to school with people who look nothing like us. School is a place not only a place where we get an education but also a place where you get to learn about t only a place where we get an education but also a place where you get to learn about people who are different from you. Not only different in race but also social class is something we learn. Nashville recently decided to rezone the schools. This means going to school closer to where you live. The debate is that are we trying to honestly help the schools are we using this as a way to segregate our children.
I think that the school district is mistaken because they overlook the fact that what they are doing is separating us by our social class and race. This is a way to try to return us to our neighborhood school. What happens if our neighborhood schools are worse than the ones we were at before? This puts our children into worse schools set up for them to fail with school that have a less than 50% graduation rates and violence that’s always on television. The schools refuse to discuss with parents a compromise for their children to go to the better schools. I don’t believe this is fair because it’s not giving all children the same education opportunity. This method is a way to take all black children out of predominately white schools. Why would we take them from a place where they are learning and excelling to put them in failing schools? This also puts kids who are poor all together and then put kids who have money all together. This is not an opportunity to give someone a chance to learn of those who are different from us. This will show kids they can only be with people like them and deserve nothing matter. They have nothing to aspire to be like or anything to look forward to with people just like them.
I agree that the school district should segregate school because it just makes it easier for people to be close to home and get the proper funding it need to be successful. This will work and is more convenient for parents if they need to go to the school. The school is not forcing people to go to these schools. They are giving them an option in choosing a better one if they don’t like the school given. Schools are more diverse now in Nashville so for them to say we are segregating schools is a lie. There is less segregation in schools so people should stop saying we are tearing races a part. The school district ha s also given school in high poverty neighborhoods 5.3 million dollars in new resources this was money that was not given before. We are investing more money in where the money should be. Also some of the schools in high poverty areas feed into magnet high schools that all people desire to get their kids into. This gives black kids an opportunity to get into a really good high school regardless of the neighborhood they live in. This would be an accomplishment for them and their families. So why not take advantage of the advantages in the schools rezoning.

1)One topic that I would like to talk about is the recent segregation in Nashville public schools.
2)Abortion and is it okay to get one?
3)Standardized test scores to place you in your classes
4)In professional football should both teams get to touch the ball?
